About
Olox OZ from Cipla brings together ofloxacin and ornidazole to tackle mixed bacterial and protozoal infections, especially of the gut.
Uses
- Mixed infections causing diarrhoea or dysentery
- Gut and genitourinary infections where both bacteria and protozoa are involved
How it works
Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone, blocks DNA gyrase to stop bacterial multiplication. Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole, damages the DNA of anaerobes and protozoa, clearing both classes of bug.
How to take
Use as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow with water, ideally at the same times each day, and complete the full course.
Side effects
- Nausea, metallic taste, or stomach upset
- Headache, dizziness, or sleep changes
Precautions
Avoid alcohol during and for 48 hours after treatment. Share any history of nerve issues, tendon problems, or seizures with your doctor.
Storage
Store below 25°C in the original strip, away from moisture and light.
