About
Acivir 800 DT from Cipla is the higher-strength dispersible acyclovir tablet, used mainly for shingles (herpes zoster) and severe herpes infections in adults. The 10-tablet strip is a typical short-course prescription pack.
Uses
- Shingles (herpes zoster)
- Severe genital herpes
- Chickenpox in adults or at-risk patients
- Recurrent herpes in immunocompromised people
How it works
Acyclovir disguises itself as a normal building block the herpes virus needs to copy its DNA. When the virus uses it, the DNA chain breaks, stopping the infection from spreading and helping the rash dry up sooner.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor. Disperse in water or swallow whole as directed.

Precautions
Drink plenty of water during the course as this strength can stress the kidneys. Inform your doctor of any kidney disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Start the course as soon as possible after the rash appears and never share the medicine.
