About
Ciprobid 500 from Zydus is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic tablet containing Ciprofloxacin at the higher 500 strength. It is used for several bacterial infections when a stronger dose is chosen by the doctor.
Uses
- Urinary and kidney infections
- Respiratory tract infections
- Skin, bone and gut infections
How it works
Ciprofloxacin blocks two bacterial enzymes (DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV) needed for DNA copying. With those enzymes blocked, bacteria cannot multiply and are cleared by the body.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, with a full glass of water. Keep a gap of two hours from milk, antacids, calcium and iron supplements.
Side effects
- Nausea, mild diarrhoea
- Headache, dizziness
- Stomach upset
- Sun sensitivity
- Tendon pain (report immediately)
Precautions
Inform your doctor about epilepsy, kidney problems, irregular heartbeat, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid strong sunlight. Do not stop the course early even if symptoms improve.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from sunlight and out of children's reach.
