Septran DS 10 tab

Septran DS is a double-strength antibiotic tablet that combines Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim, a combination also known as co-trimoxazole. It is prescribed for a range of bacterial infections in adults.

• Urinary tract infections
• Certain chest and lung infections
• Traveller's diarrhoea and gut infections
• Middle ear infections
• Some skin and soft-tissue infections

Both medicines block different steps in the bacteria's folic acid pathway. Without folic acid, bacteria cannot make DNA and stop multiplying, which lets the body clear the infection.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, with a full glass of water and preferably after food. Drink plenty of fluids during the day and complete the full course, even if you feel better.

• Nausea or vomiting
• Loose motions
• Skin rash
• Loss of appetite
• Mouth soreness

Tell the doctor about any sulfa allergy, kidney or liver trouble, low folate, blood disorders, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Stop the medicine and seek help if you notice severe rash, peeling skin, or signs of bleeding.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from sunlight. Keep the strip in its original pack and out of reach of children.
