About
Ceflox 250 from Laborate is a ciprofloxacin tablet, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for several types of bacterial infection.
Uses
- Urinary tract infections
- Some gut infections and traveller's diarrhoea
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Some bone and joint infections
How it works
Ciprofloxacin blocks bacterial enzymes called DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. Without these, the bacteria cannot copy or repair their DNA and they die.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor with a full glass of water. Avoid taking it together with milk, antacids, iron or calcium tablets, as these reduce its absorption.
Side effects
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Diarrhoea
- Headache or dizziness
- Sleep disturbance
Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have a history of tendon problems, seizures, heart rhythm issues or myasthenia gravis. Avoid strong sunlight and stop and call your doctor if you notice tendon pain or swelling.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, and keep out of reach of children.
