About
Ciprobid 250 from Zydus is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic tablet containing Ciprofloxacin. It is used for a wide range of bacterial infections where a doctor decides this strength is appropriate.
Uses
- Urinary tract infections
- Respiratory and ear infections
- Some gut and skin infections
How it works
Ciprofloxacin blocks two bacterial enzymes — DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV — that bacteria need to copy their DNA. Without DNA copying the bacteria cannot multiply and they die out.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, with a full glass of water. Avoid taking it with milk, antacids or iron supplements within two hours, as they reduce absorption.
Side effects
- Nausea, mild diarrhoea
- Headache, dizziness
- Stomach discomfort
- Sensitivity to sunlight
- Tendon pain (report immediately)
Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have epilepsy, kidney issues, a heart-rhythm problem, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid heavy sun exposure and finish the full course even if you feel better.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from light and out of children's reach.
