About

Norflox 400 from Cipla contains Norfloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It is used to treat bacterial infections, especially of the urinary tract and gut.

Uses

  • Urinary tract infections
  • Bacterial diarrhoea and dysentery
  • Certain prostate infections

How it works

Norfloxacin blocks bacterial enzymes called DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This stops bacteria from copying their DNA, so they cannot multiply and are cleared by the body.

How to take

Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually on an empty stomach with a full glass of water. Avoid milk, antacids, or iron supplements near the dose. Finish the full course even if you feel better.

  • Loose stools
  • Skin rash

Precautions

Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, tendon issues, epilepsy, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid strong sunlight while on this medicine. Stop and call your doctor if you notice tendon pain.
