About
Pipzar Injection from Intas is a powerful broad-spectrum antibiotic given in hospital settings. It combines piperacillin with tazobactam and is used for serious bacterial infections that need intravenous treatment.
Uses
- Severe chest and lung infections
- Hospital-acquired pneumonia
- Serious urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Intra-abdominal infections
How it works
Piperacillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that kills bacteria by damaging their cell wall. Tazobactam blocks the bacterial enzyme called beta-lactamase, which otherwise breaks down piperacillin. Together they cover a wide range of tough bacteria.
How to take
Given as an intravenous infusion by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic, as prescribed by your doctor. The injection is reconstituted and infused over the time recommended in the medicine leaflet.
Side effects
- Loose motions
- Nausea or vomiting
- Mild rash
- Headache
- Pain or redness at injection site
- Rare allergic reaction
Precautions
Tell your doctor about any allergy to penicillin or other antibiotics, kidney problems, or bleeding tendency. Inform about pregnancy or breastfeeding. Treatment is usually monitored with blood tests.
Storage
Store the unopened vial below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Once reconstituted, it must be used as directed in a clinical setting.
