Product information
About
Monocef SB from Aristo combines Ceftriaxone 1000 mg with Sulbactam 500 mg. Ceftriaxone is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic and Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects it from being broken down by resistant bacteria.
Uses
- Severe chest and lung infections
- Complicated urinary tract infections
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Skin, bone, and joint infections
- Septicaemia and meningitis
How it works
Ceftriaxone damages the protective outer wall of bacteria. Sulbactam blocks the bacterial enzymes that would otherwise destroy the antibiotic, so the combination works even against tougher germs.
How to take
This is a hospital or clinic injection given as prescribed by your doctor by a trained nurse, usually into a vein.
Side effects
- Pain at the injection site
- Loose motions
- Nausea
- Rash or itching
- Changes in blood counts on lab tests
Precautions
Tell your doctor about any past allergy to penicillin or cephalosporins. Mention liver, kidney, or gallbladder problems. Use carefully in newborns and discuss safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Storage
Keep below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of children's reach.
