About
Cefasyn 500 from Cipla is a higher-strength cefuroxime tablet, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic for moderate to more stubborn bacterial infections.
Uses
- Throat, sinus and ear infections
- Chest infections like bronchitis and pneumonia
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
How it works
Cefuroxime stops bacteria from forming a strong outer cell wall. Without that wall the bacteria break apart and the infection settles.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food so the medicine is absorbed well and is gentler on the stomach. Finish the full course.
Side effects
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Diarrhoea
- Skin rash or itching
- Headache
Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have had a reaction to penicillin or any cephalosporin antibiotic, or if you have kidney issues. Report severe diarrhoea straight away.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, and keep out of reach of children.
