IT Mac 200

IT Mac 200 from Macleods is an oral antifungal capsule containing Itraconazole. Doctors prescribe it to treat fungal infections of the skin, nails and deeper parts of the body.

• Nail fungal infections
• Ringworm and other skin fungal infections
• Yeast infections of the mouth and throat
• Certain systemic fungal infections

Itraconazole belongs to the triazole group of antifungals. It blocks an enzyme that fungi need to build their cell wall (ergosterol). Without a proper cell wall, the fungus cannot grow and is slowly cleared from the body.

Take as prescribed by your doctor. The capsule is usually swallowed whole with food or a fizzy drink, which helps the body absorb it better. Complete the full course even if the rash or nail looks better early.

• Nausea, indigestion or stomach pain
• Headache or dizziness
• Mild rash
• Changes in taste
• Rise in liver enzymes on blood tests

Tell your doctor about all other medicines, especially heart, cholesterol and acidity drugs, as many can interact. Avoid in active liver disease and in heart failure. Not advised in pregnancy unless the doctor decides it is needed.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep in the original strip and out of reach of children.
