About

Flagyl ER from Abbott Healthcare is the extended-release form of Metronidazole. It releases the medicine slowly, so a single daily dose can keep working through the day to fight certain infections.

Uses

  • Bacterial vaginosis

  • Specific intestinal infections
  • Infections caused by anaerobic bacteria

How it works

Metronidazole gets into the bacteria or parasite and damages their DNA. The extended-release coating allows steady levels of medicine, giving long-lasting action with fewer doses.

How to take

Take as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow whole with water, on an empty stomach, ideally one hour before or two hours after a meal. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

  • Dry mouth
  • Dark-coloured urine

Precautions

Avoid alcohol during the course and for at least 48 hours after the last dose. Inform the doctor if you have liver disease, nerve issues, or are pregnant. Do not split or crush the tablet.

Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
