About
Levoflox Infusion from Cipla is a ready-to-use levofloxacin drip used in hospital to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections when oral therapy is not enough.
Uses
- Severe pneumonia and respiratory infections
- Complicated urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Intra-abdominal infections (with other antibiotics)
How it works
Levofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It blocks bacterial enzymes (DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV) that bacteria need to copy their DNA, so the infection is cleared.
How to take
Given as a slow intravenous infusion in hospital by trained staff, as prescribed by your doctor. The dose and duration depend on the type and severity of infection.
Side effects
- Nausea, loose motions
- Headache, dizziness
- Pain or redness at the drip site
- Tendon pain or swelling
- Sleep disturbances
Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney problems, epilepsy, tendon issues, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Drink enough fluids and avoid sun exposure while on the medicine.
Storage
Store the bottle below 25 degrees C, away from light. Do not use if the solution looks cloudy or the seal is damaged.
