About

RCinex 600 from Lupin is a fixed-dose anti-tuberculosis tablet combining Rifampicin and Isoniazid for adults requiring a higher dose strength.

Uses

  • Treatment of active tuberculosis
  • Part of multi-drug TB regimens

How it works

Rifampicin blocks bacterial RNA synthesis, while Isoniazid interferes with the TB bacteria's cell wall formation. The combination works against actively dividing TB bacteria.

How to take

Take as prescribed by your doctor, generally on an empty stomach for better absorption. Do not skip doses.

Side effects

  • Orange discolouration of body fluids
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Loss of appetite
  • Numbness or tingling in limbs
  • Liver-related changes

Precautions

Liver function may need periodic monitoring. Avoid alcohol. Rifampicin can reduce the effect of oral contraceptives and many other drugs — discuss alternatives with your doctor.
