Product information
About
Monocef Injection from Aristo contains Ceftriaxone 1000 mg. It belongs to the third-generation cephalosporin family of antibiotics and is given for moderate to severe bacterial infections that need hospital-strength treatment.
Uses
- Serious chest and lung infections
- Urinary tract and kidney infections
- Meningitis and other infections around the brain
- Skin, bone, and joint infections
- Typhoid fever and septicaemia
How it works
It stops bacteria from building their protective outer wall. Without that wall, the germs break apart and the infection clears up.
How to take
This is a hospital or clinic injection given as prescribed by your doctor, either into a vein or muscle by a trained nurse.
Side effects
- Pain or swelling at the injection site
- Mild loose motions
- Nausea
- Rash or itching
- Changes in blood counts on lab tests
Precautions
Tell your doctor about any past allergy to penicillin or cephalosporins. Inform them of liver, kidney, or gallbladder problems. Not usually mixed with calcium-containing IV fluids in newborns. Discuss use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Storage
Keep below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of children's reach.
