Cefaxone 500 mg Injection from Lupin contains ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic given by injection for moderate to serious bacterial infections.

• Bone, joint and abdominal infections

Ceftriaxone weakens the cell wall that protects bacteria, causing the germs to break down. It spreads well through body tissues including the brain coverings.

A nurse or doctor gives this injection into a muscle or a vein, as prescribed by your doctor. Complete the full course advised by the team.

• Pain or swelling at the injection site
• Diarrhoea
• Rash
• Changes in blood counts

Tell your doctor about any allergy to penicillin or cephalosporins, gallstones or kidney problems. Avoid use with calcium-containing IV fluids in newborns.

Store the vial below 25 degrees C, away from light. Once mixed, use as directed by the healthcare team.
