Cefaxone 0.25gm Injection 250 mg

Cefaxone 250 mg Injection from Lupin contains ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic given by injection for moderate to serious bacterial infections.

• Serious chest and lung infections
• Urinary tract and kidney infections
• Meningitis and bloodstream infections
• Some bone, joint and abdominal infections

Ceftriaxone disrupts the bacterial cell wall so the germs lose shape and are destroyed. It reaches good levels in many body tissues including the spinal fluid.

This injection is given by a nurse or doctor into a muscle or a vein, as prescribed by your doctor. Complete the full course advised.

• Pain or swelling at the injection site
• Loose stools or diarrhoea
• Rash or itching
• Changes in blood counts

Tell your doctor about any allergy to penicillin or cephalosporins, gallbladder or kidney disease. It is not given to newborns with jaundice or alongside calcium-containing IV fluids in young infants.

Store the vial below 25 degrees C, away from light. Once reconstituted, use as directed by the healthcare team.
