Product information
About
Monocef SB from Aristo combines Ceftriaxone 500 mg with Sulbactam 250 mg. Ceftriaxone is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic and Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that helps it work against bacteria that would normally resist it.
Uses
- Moderate to severe chest infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Septicaemia
How it works
Ceftriaxone breaks down the bacterial cell wall. Sulbactam blocks the enzymes that resistant bacteria use to destroy the antibiotic, so together they handle a wider range of germs.
How to take
This is a hospital or clinic injection given as prescribed by your doctor by a trained nurse.
Side effects
- Pain at the injection site
- Loose motions
- Nausea
- Rash
- Mild changes in liver tests
Precautions
Mention any past reaction to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics. Inform your doctor about liver, kidney, or gallbladder concerns. Discuss safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Storage
Keep below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of children's reach.
