About

Ceffrench OF Syrup from Anglo-French Drugs combines two antibiotics for children, cefixime (a third-generation cephalosporin) and ofloxacin (a fluoroquinolone), to widen the range of bacteria it can clear.

Uses

  • Mixed bacterial infections of the gut
  • Persistent ear or throat infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Chest infections not responding to a single antibiotic

How it works

Cefixime weakens the bacterial cell wall, while ofloxacin blocks an enzyme the germs need to copy their DNA. Together they target a wider set of bacteria.

How to take

Shake the bottle well. Give as prescribed by your doctor using the measuring cup or spoon provided. Complete the full course advised.

  • Loose stools or diarrhoea
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Mild rash
  • Headache

Precautions

Tell the doctor about any allergy to penicillin, cephalosporins or quinolones, or about kidney problems and seizures. This combination is used only when the doctor feels it is needed.
