About
Cefredrox CV Syrup from Leeford is a child-friendly liquid that pairs cefpodoxime proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, with clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor.
Uses
- Throat, ear and sinus infections in children
- Chest infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
How it works
Cefpodoxime stops bacteria from building a strong cell wall. Clavulanic acid blocks the enzymes some bacteria produce to break down such antibiotics, so cefpodoxime continues to act.
How to take
Shake the bottle well. Give as prescribed by your doctor using the measuring cup or spoon provided, usually with food. Complete the full course.
Side effects
- Loose stools or diarrhoea
- Nausea or vomiting
- Mild rash
- Diaper rash in babies
Precautions
Tell the doctor about any past allergy to penicillin or cephalosporins, kidney issues or liver disease. Report severe or watery diarrhoea straight away.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees C in a dry place. After mixing, refrigerate and use within the period the pharmacist advises.
