About
Telma AMH 40 from Glenmark is a triple combination of Telmisartan (ARB), Amlodipine (calcium channel blocker) and Hydrochlorothiazide (thiazide diuretic). It is used when blood pressure stays high on two drugs.
Uses
- Hard-to-control or resistant hypertension
- Hypertension with fluid retention
- Reducing long-term risk of stroke and heart attack
- Long-term blood pressure maintenance
How it works
Telmisartan blocks angiotensin II so vessels relax. Amlodipine widens arteries by blocking calcium entry into vessel muscle. Hydrochlorothiazide helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, lowering blood volume.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor with water, preferably in the morning.
Side effects
- Ankle swelling
- Increased urination
- Dizziness
- Muscle cramps
Precautions
Avoid in pregnancy. Inform your doctor of kidney disease, gout, diabetes, or low potassium. Periodic blood tests may be needed to track kidney function and salts.
