Acitrom 0.5 10 Tab

Acitrom 0.5 from Abbott is a low-strength blood-thinning tablet containing acenocoumarol. The strip of 10 is usually started or fine-tuned by a doctor to keep the blood from clotting too easily in people with certain heart or vessel conditions.

• Treats deep vein thrombosis
• Lowers risk of lung clots

Acenocoumarol blocks vitamin K, which the liver normally uses to build clotting factors. With those factors lowered in a controlled way, the blood takes longer to clot and the risk of dangerous clumps inside vessels comes down.

Take as prescribed by your doctor. The dose is set after regular PT/INR blood tests and may change over time.

• Easy bruising or bleeding gums
• Nosebleeds
• Heavier menstrual flow
• Rarely, blood in urine or stool

Never skip your INR tests, and tell every doctor and dentist that you are on a blood thinner. Avoid sudden big changes in green leafy vegetables, alcohol or new medicines and supplements without checking first. Not safe in pregnancy.

Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and out of reach of children.
