About

Combutol 1000 from Lupin contains ethambutol at a high strength, used in tuberculosis treatment as part of a multidrug regimen. Higher strengths are often used for adults with greater body weight.

How it works

Ethambutol works by blocking the enzyme that builds the bacterial cell wall in Mycobacterium species, halting their growth and allowing the immune system and partner drugs to clear the infection.

How to take

Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily with or without food. Do not skip doses and finish the full course as advised.

  • Blurred or reduced vision
  • Difficulty distinguishing red and green
  • Nausea
  • Joint pain or numbness in hands and feet

Precautions

Get your eyes checked regularly while on treatment. Tell your doctor about kidney problems, gout or any vision issues before starting.
