About
Rcinex Kid from Lupin is a paediatric anti-tuberculosis combination of Rifampicin and Isoniazid. It is used in children as part of a complete TB regimen, often alongside other anti-TB drugs.
Uses
- Treats tuberculosis in children
- Used in the continuation phase of TB therapy
- Helps prevent recurrence when given as directed
How it works
Rifampicin and Isoniazid attack TB bacteria through different routes, lowering the bacterial count and helping the child's body clear the infection.
How to take
Give as prescribed by your child's doctor. Usually given on an empty stomach with water, at least an hour before food.
Side effects
- Orange-red colour in urine and body fluids (harmless)
- Nausea, vomiting, or reduced appetite
- Numbness or tingling in hands and feet
- Changes in liver function tests
Precautions
Tell the doctor about any liver problems, malnutrition, or other medicines or supplements the child is taking. A vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) supplement may be advised. Complete the full course, even after symptoms improve.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place away from sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
