About

Ocuvir SR tablets from FDC contain Acyclovir in a sustained-release form. Acyclovir is an antiviral medicine prescribed for herpes virus infections of the skin, mouth and genitals.

Uses

  • Genital and oral herpes
  • Shingles (Herpes zoster)
  • Cold sores
  • Chickenpox in some cases
  • Prevention of repeat herpes attacks

How it works

Acyclovir gets activated inside virus-infected cells and blocks the enzyme the virus uses to copy its DNA. This stops the virus from multiplying and helps heal blisters faster.

How to take

Take as prescribed by your doctor with plenty of water. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew. Start the medicine as soon as symptoms begin for best effect.

Precautions
