Product information
About
Telvas CT 40 from Aristo is a combination antihypertensive tablet with Telmisartan, an angiotensin-receptor blocker, and Chlorthalidone, a long-acting thiazide-like diuretic. It is used when a single medicine is not enough to keep blood pressure in range.
Uses
- High blood pressure not controlled by one drug
- Long-term BP maintenance
- Reducing strain on heart and kidneys from raised BP
How it works
Telmisartan widens the blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, the hormone that tightens them. Chlorthalidone helps the kidneys flush out extra salt and water, lowering blood volume. Together they bring BP down through two different routes.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually in the morning with water so that the extra urine does not disturb sleep. Drink enough fluids during the day.
Side effects
- Increased urination, especially at first
- Dizziness on standing up
- Tiredness
- Muscle cramps
- Low potassium or sodium on tests
Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, gout, diabetes, or low electrolytes. Avoid in pregnancy. Get periodic blood tests for sodium, potassium and creatinine.
Storage
Keep below 25°C in a dry place, in the original strip. Keep out of reach of children.
