Avil 50 from Sanofi contains pheniramine maleate, a first-generation antihistamine commonly used to ease allergy symptoms. It blocks the action of histamine, the body chemical responsible for itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.

Pheniramine works by attaching to histamine H1 receptors, stopping histamine from triggering allergy symptoms. This calms inflammation, reduces itching, and dries up nasal secretions.

Take the tablet with water, as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food. Since it may cause drowsiness, avoid driving after the dose.
