About
Alex Junior Syrup by Glenmark is a children's cough formula combining Chlorpheniramine 2 mg, Dextromethorphan 10 mg and Phenylephrine 5 mg per dose. It targets dry cough with a blocked, runny nose.
Uses
- Dry, irritating cough in children
- Blocked or stuffy nose due to cold
- Runny nose, sneezing and watery eyes
- Symptoms of common cold and allergy
- Throat irritation from cough
How it works
Dextromethorphan calms the cough centre in the brain so the urge to cough reduces. Chlorpheniramine dries up allergy-related sniffles, and Phenylephrine shrinks swollen nasal blood vessels to clear the blocked nose.
How to take
Give as prescribed by your child's doctor. Shake the bottle well before each dose and measure with the cap or spoon provided.
Side effects
- Drowsiness
- Dry mouth or throat
- Mild nausea
- Slight increase in heart rate
- Restlessness in some children
Precautions
Not suitable for very young children unless the doctor advises. Avoid in productive (mucus) cough. Tell your doctor if the child has heart problems, high blood pressure, thyroid issues, or is on other cold or allergy medicines. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Storage
Keep below 25 degrees Celsius, tightly closed, away from sunlight and out of children's reach. Discard any remaining syrup a month after opening.
