About
Alerid Syrup is a child-friendly liquid form of Cetirizine (5 mg per 5 ml) from Cipla. It is widely used in Indian homes to calm allergy symptoms in children.
Uses
- Sneezing, runny nose in children
- Allergic skin rash and itching
- Hives (urticaria)
- Eye itching from allergies
How it works
Cetirizine blocks H1 histamine receptors so the body's allergy reaction quietens — less sneezing, itching and watering. It works within an hour for most kids.
How to take
Give as prescribed by your doctor based on the child's age and weight. Shake the bottle well, measure with the cap or measuring spoon, and give with or without food, usually at bedtime.

- Dry mouth
- Stomach upset
- Headache (uncommon)
Precautions
Do not combine with other cold/allergy syrups without checking — many already contain antihistamines. Inform the doctor if the child has kidney/liver problems. Not advised for very young infants except on a doctor's prescription.
Storage
Store below 25°C, tightly capped, away from sunlight. Use within the period mentioned on the label after opening.
