About
Ocupol Eye/Ear Drops from Centaur Pharmaceuticals combine two antibiotics, Polymyxin B and Chloramphenicol. The drops are prescribed for bacterial infections of the eyes and ears.
Uses
- Bacterial conjunctivitis
- Bacterial outer-ear infection
- Stye and lid infection
- Eye or ear discharge with infection
How it works
Chloramphenicol stops bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow. Polymyxin B damages the outer wall of certain bacteria. Together they handle a wide range of common ear and eye germs.
How to take
Use as prescribed by your doctor. For the eye, place a drop inside the lower lid. For the ear, tilt the head and let drops fall into the ear canal, then stay still for a minute. Do not touch the dropper to skin or surfaces.
Side effects
- Mild stinging or burning
- Temporary blurred vision (eye use)
- Itching or redness
- Mild ear discomfort
Precautions
Not for viral or fungal infections. Do not use in the ear if the eardrum is torn unless the doctor approves. Stop and see the doctor if irritation worsens. Remove contact lenses during eye use.
Storage
Store below 25°C, away from sunlight. Discard 4 weeks after first opening. Keep the cap tightly closed.
