About
Debistal GM2 tablets from Leeford bring together three antidiabetic medicines: Glimepiride, Metformin and Voglibose. The three ingredients control blood sugar in different ways and are used for type 2 diabetes.
Uses
- Type 2 diabetes in adults
- Blood sugar control when single medicines are not enough
- Helps lower fasting and post-meal sugar
How it works
Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that helps the pancreas release more insulin. Metformin is a biguanide that lowers sugar made by the liver and helps the body use insulin better. Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that slows down the breakdown of sugars in the gut, so blood sugar does not spike after meals.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, ideally with the first bite of a meal so Voglibose can act on food sugars. Do not skip meals after taking the dose.
Side effects
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia)
- Nausea, bloating or gas
- Loose motions
- Stomach discomfort
- Metallic taste
- Weight changes
Precautions
Keep glucose tablets, sugar or juice handy in case of low sugar. Tell your doctor about kidney, liver or heart problems, recent illness, or planned scans with contrast dye. Limit alcohol, and inform the doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning surgery.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep the strip in its original pack and out of reach of children.
