About
Amaryl M Forte 2 is a Sanofi tablet that combines two diabetes medicines, glimepiride 2mg and metformin 1000mg. It is used in type 2 diabetes to help control blood sugar, alongside diet and exercise. It is not for type 1 diabetes.

How it works
Glimepiride prompts the pancreas to release more insulin, while metformin lowers the sugar made by the liver and helps the body use insulin better. Together they bring blood sugar down.
How to take
Take exactly as your doctor prescribes, usually with or just after food. Do not skip meals after taking it, and follow your doctor's dose closely.
Side effects
- Low blood sugar (sweating, shaking, dizziness)
- Nausea or diarrhoea
- Headache or metallic taste; keep a sugary snack handy for lows
Precautions
Available only with a valid prescription. Avoid alcohol, which raises the risk of low sugar and lactic acidosis. Not for use in breastfeeding. Learn the signs of low blood sugar and how to treat them.
