About

Rifagut 550 from Sun Pharma is the highest strength of Rifaximin commonly prescribed in India. It is mostly used in liver-related gut conditions and in long-term IBS-D management.

Uses

  • Prevention of repeat hepatic encephalopathy episodes
  • IBS with diarrhoea
  • Small intestine bacterial overgrowth
  • Certain chronic gut infections

How it works

Rifaximin blocks RNA polymerase in harmful gut bacteria, stopping them from growing. Because it is barely absorbed, it lowers the load of toxin-producing bacteria in the intestine, which is helpful in liver disease.

How to take

Take as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow with water, with or without food. Do not stop on your own even if you feel better; long courses are common for this strength.

Precautions
