Product information
About
Ondem MD from Alkem contains Ondansetron, a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. The mouth-dissolving tablet helps when swallowing is hard during nausea.
Uses
- Nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy or radiotherapy
- Vomiting after surgery
- Severe vomiting from infections
How it works
Ondansetron blocks 5-HT3 receptors in the gut and the brain's vomiting centre. This stops serotonin from triggering the vomit reflex, settling nausea quickly.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor. Place the tablet on the tongue and let it dissolve before swallowing with or without water. It can be taken with or without food.
Side effects
- Headache
- Constipation
- Feeling tired or flushed
- Mild dizziness
Precautions
Tell your doctor about heart rhythm issues, liver problems, or pregnancy and breastfeeding. List all other medicines as some can interact. Stop and seek help if you get an irregular heartbeat or rash.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees C in a dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep in the original strip and out of reach of children.
