Product information
About
Trigem 1 from Medley is a triple-combination tablet for type 2 diabetes that brings together Glimepiride (a sulfonylurea), Metformin (a biguanide) and Pioglitazone (a thiazolidinedione). It is used when one or two drugs alone are not enough to control blood sugar.
Uses
- Type 2 diabetes not controlled on one or two drugs
- Long-term blood sugar management
- Reducing fasting and post-meal sugar
How it works
Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin. Metformin reduces sugar production by the liver and helps the body use insulin better. Pioglitazone makes muscle and fat cells more sensitive to insulin. Together they tackle high sugar from three different angles.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually with or just after a meal to lower the chance of stomach upset and low sugar. Do not skip meals after taking it.
Side effects
- Low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, hunger)
- Stomach upset, nausea or loose motions
- Weight gain or mild ankle swelling
- Metallic taste
- Vitamin B12 levels may drop on long use
Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney, liver or heart problems, history of heart failure or bladder issues. Carry sugar or sweets in case of a low. Avoid heavy alcohol. Get periodic kidney, liver and HbA1c tests.
Storage
Store below 25°C in the original strip, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
