About
Geminor MP 1 is a triple-combination diabetes tablet from Macleods. It brings together glimepiride, metformin and pioglitazone so blood sugar can be tackled from three different angles in a single dose.
Uses
- Helps manage type 2 diabetes when one medicine alone is not enough
- Improves how your body responds to insulin
- Reduces glucose released by the liver
How it works
Glimepiride nudges the pancreas to release more insulin, metformin lowers the amount of sugar made by the liver and helps muscles use glucose better, while pioglitazone makes the body's cells more sensitive to insulin. Together they steady your sugar levels through the day.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet whole with water and try to keep timings consistent each day.
Side effects
- Low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, hunger)
- Nausea, gas or loose motions
- Weight gain or mild swelling in the feet
- Headache or tiredness
Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have kidney, liver or heart problems, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Carry a sugary snack in case of a low. Avoid alcohol as it can drop sugar suddenly.
Storage
Keep below 30 C in a dry place, away from sunlight and out of reach of children.
