Liquid paraffin is a lubricant laxative that coats and softens the stool so it moves more smoothly. Milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) is an osmotic laxative that pulls water into the bowel to soften the stool and gently encourage movement.

Shake the bottle well and take by mouth at bedtime, as prescribed by your doctor. Drink plenty of water through the day.
