About
Tenovate GN Cream from GlaxoSmithKline is a combination skin cream typically containing Clobetasol Propionate (a potent steroid), Gentamicin (an antibiotic) and Miconazole (an antifungal). It is used for inflamed skin conditions where bacterial or fungal infection is also suspected.
Uses
- Infected eczema or dermatitis
- Mixed infections with itching and inflammation
- Steroid-responsive skin rashes with secondary infection
How it works
Clobetasol calms inflammation, redness and itching. Gentamicin kills susceptible bacteria on the skin, while Miconazole targets fungal organisms. Together they treat the inflammation and the infection at the same time.
How to take
Apply a thin layer to the affected area as prescribed by your doctor, usually twice daily. Wash and dry the skin first. Avoid covering with tight dressings unless advised.
Side effects
- Burning, stinging or itching at start
- Skin thinning with prolonged use
- Changes in skin colour
- Folliculitis
- Allergic reaction at the site
Precautions
Do not use on the face, groin or underarms unless your doctor agrees. Avoid use on viral skin infections, broken skin or over large areas for long periods. Discuss use in pregnancy, breastfeeding or in children. Stop and consult if rash worsens.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius. Keep the tube tightly closed and out of reach of children.
