Product information
About
Ondem MD 8 from Alkem contains Ondansetron, a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. The higher-strength mouth-dissolving tablet helps when nausea is strong.
Uses
- Severe nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy or radiotherapy
- Vomiting after surgery
- Persistent vomiting from infections
How it works
Ondansetron blocks 5-HT3 receptors in the gut and the brain's vomiting centre. It stops serotonin from triggering the vomit reflex, calming strong nausea.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor. Place the tablet on the tongue and let it melt before swallowing with or without water. It can be taken with or without food.
Side effects
- Headache
- Constipation
- Feeling tired or flushed
- Mild dizziness
Precautions
Tell your doctor about heart rhythm issues, low potassium or magnesium, liver problems, or pregnancy and breastfeeding. Mention all other medicines. Stop and seek help if your heartbeat feels irregular.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees C in a dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep in the original strip and out of reach of children.
