About

Ocid 20 capsules from Zydus contain Omeprazole, a proton-pump inhibitor (PPI). It is widely prescribed to reduce excess stomach acid and is one of the most used acidity medicines in India.

Uses

  • Acidity and heartburn
  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux (GERD)
  • Stomach and duodenal ulcers
  • Acid burning with NSAID painkillers
  • Part of H. pylori treatment

How it works

Omeprazole blocks the tiny acid pumps in the stomach lining that release acid. With less acid, the burning eases and ulcers get a chance to heal.

How to take

Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually before a meal. Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew. Best taken on an empty stomach.

Precautions

Long-term use needs doctor review as it may affect Vitamin B12, magnesium and bone health. Tell the doctor about liver problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Inform doctor if you take clopidogrel or methotrexate.
