Medoc AT 10 tabs

Medoc AT from Leeford is a fixed-dose blood-pressure tablet that combines amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, with atenolol, a beta blocker. The pairing tackles high blood pressure through two complementary routes in a single tablet.

• High blood pressure (hypertension)
• Chest pain (angina) where both medicines are appropriate
• Long-term control of blood pressure in adults

Amlodipine relaxes and widens the blood vessels so blood can flow through them with less resistance. Atenolol slows the heart and reduces the force of its beats, lowering the workload on the heart. Together they bring blood pressure down more effectively than either alone.

Take one tablet at the same time each day as prescribed by your doctor, with water and with or without food. Do not stop the medicine suddenly even if you feel well.

• Tiredness and cold hands or feet
• Slow heart rate
• Ankle swelling
• Headache or dizziness
• Flushing

Tell your doctor if you have asthma, severe heart failure, very slow heart rate or diabetes. This combination is generally avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding, and your doctor will monitor blood pressure and pulse regularly.
