About
Metbetic GL1 from Cadila is an oral diabetes tablet that combines Glimepiride with Metformin. It is prescribed for adults with type 2 diabetes when one medicine alone is not enough to control sugar.
Uses
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus
- Control of blood sugar along with diet and exercise
How it works
Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that helps the pancreas release more insulin. Metformin is a biguanide that lowers the amount of sugar made by the liver and helps the body use insulin better. Together they bring blood sugar down through different actions.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, usually with the first main meal of the day. Swallow whole with water. Do not skip meals after taking this tablet.
Side effects
- Low blood sugar (sweating, shakiness, hunger)
- Nausea or loose motions
- Metallic taste
- Stomach discomfort
- Mild weight gain
Precautions
Always carry a sugar source for sudden low-sugar episodes. Inform the doctor of kidney or liver problems, severe infections, or planned scans with contrast dye. Limit alcohol. Check sugar levels regularly.
