About
Telvilite-80 from Leeford is a single-ingredient blood pressure tablet containing Telmisartan, an angiotensin-receptor blocker. It is one of the most widely prescribed first-line medicines for hypertension.
Uses
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Reducing risk of heart attack and stroke in high-risk adults
- Protection of kidneys in patients with diabetes and BP
How it works
Telmisartan blocks the action of angiotensin II, the hormone that tightens blood vessels and raises pressure. With this hormone blocked, the vessels stay relaxed and BP comes down. The effect lasts for a full day on once-daily dosing.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, with or without food, at about the same time each day. Do not stop suddenly even if you feel well.
Side effects
- Dizziness, especially on standing up
- Back pain or muscle ache
- Mild stomach upset
- Cough or cold-like feeling
- Tiredness in the first few days
Precautions
Not recommended in pregnancy. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, very low BP, or narrowing of kidney arteries. Avoid potassium-rich salt substitutes unless your doctor approves.
