Alesmo 40

Alesmo 40 from Albert David contains Esomeprazole 40 mg. It belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors and is commonly prescribed for acidity-linked stomach trouble.

• Acid reflux and heartburn (GERD)
• Stomach and duodenal ulcers
• Erosion of the food pipe due to acid
• Helicobacter pylori infection (with antibiotics)
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

It blocks the tiny acid pumps in the stomach lining, so much less acid is produced. With acid levels down, the burning settles and ulcers get a chance to heal.

Take as prescribed by your doctor. Best swallowed whole with water about an hour before a meal — usually breakfast.

• Headache
• Nausea or mild stomach pain
• Loose motions or constipation
• Gas and bloating
• Dry mouth

Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, low magnesium, or osteoporosis. Long-term use needs medical review. Avoid mixing with certain HIV or antifungal medicines without checking first. Safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding should be discussed with your doctor.
