About
Tenepla M 1000 is a fixed-dose combination tablet from Cipla pairing Teneligliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, with Metformin, a biguanide. It is used in adults with type 2 diabetes when a single medicine is not enough to control blood sugar.
Uses
- Type 2 diabetes not controlled on one drug
- Better blood sugar control with diet and exercise
- Reducing post-meal sugar spikes
How it works
Teneligliptin boosts incretin hormones so the pancreas releases insulin in response to meals and the liver makes less glucose. Metformin lowers glucose production in the liver and helps the body use insulin more effectively. Together they tackle high sugar from several angles.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, preferably with meals to reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
Side effects
- Nausea, gas or loose stools
- Metallic taste
- Loss of appetite
- Low blood sugar when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas
- Vitamin B12 reduction with long-term use
Precautions
Share any history of kidney, liver, or heart problems and any past pancreatitis. Avoid heavy alcohol use. Tell your doctor before any scan with contrast dye or surgery. Not generally recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
