Metadon 100 XL 10 tab

Metadon 100 XL from Leeford is an extended-release Metoprolol tablet. The XL formulation releases the medicine slowly so that one tablet keeps the heart and blood pressure steady for a full day.

• High blood pressure
• Chest pain (angina) due to reduced blood flow to the heart
• Long-term heart failure as advised
• After a heart attack for heart protection
• Some types of fast or irregular heartbeat

Metoprolol is a selective beta-1 blocker. It blocks the action of adrenaline on the heart, so the heart beats slower and with less force. This lowers the oxygen demand of the heart and brings down blood pressure.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, swallowed whole with water, preferably at the same time daily. Do not crush or chew the tablet, as the slow-release coating is then broken. Never stop suddenly.

• Tiredness or unusual weakness
• Slow heartbeat
• Dizziness, especially when standing
• Cold hands and feet
• Sleep disturbance or vivid dreams

Tell the doctor if you have asthma, severe heart block, very slow pulse, low BP, diabetes or thyroid trouble. Do not stop the tablet suddenly, as that can cause chest pain or palpitations. Limit alcohol.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep in the strip and out of reach of children.
