Product information
About
Monit GTN from Intas contains Nitroglycerin (Glyceryl Trinitrate) in a sustained-release tablet. Doctors prescribe it for long-term prevention of chest pain in people with angina.
Uses
- Prevention of angina (chest pain)
- Long-term care of chronic stable angina
- Support in some heart conditions as advised
How it works
Nitroglycerin releases nitric oxide in the body, which relaxes and widens blood vessels. This lowers the work the heart has to do and improves blood supply to the heart muscle, reducing angina episodes.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor, swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the sustained-release tablet. This medicine is for prevention; it does not stop an angina attack that has already started.
Side effects
- Headache, especially in the first days
- Dizziness or fainting on standing up
- Flushing of the face
- Fast heartbeat
- Low blood pressure
Precautions
Tell the doctor about very low blood pressure, recent heart attack, severe anaemia or head injury. Avoid combining with erectile dysfunction medicines such as sildenafil. Do not stop the medicine suddenly without advice.
Storage
Store below 25°C in the original strip, away from moisture and sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
