About
Nitrocontin contains nitroglycerin (glyceryl trinitrate) in a sustained-release form. It belongs to the nitrate group of heart medicines and is used to prevent chest pain (angina) in people with coronary artery disease.

How it works
Nitroglycerin releases nitric oxide in the body, which relaxes and widens blood vessels. This eases blood flow to the heart and lowers the effort it needs to pump, reducing chest pain episodes.
How to take
Take as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew, as that breaks the slow-release coating. Try to take it at the same times each day.

Precautions
Get up slowly from sitting or lying to avoid feeling faint. Avoid alcohol, which can worsen dizziness. Do not use with medicines for erectile dysfunction (like sildenafil). Inform your doctor of low blood pressure, recent heart attack, or anaemia.
