Thyrox 12.5 mcg 120 tab

Thyrox from Macleods Pharmaceuticals is a thyroid hormone replacement tablet containing Levothyroxine Sodium. This low-strength version is often prescribed to start treatment in newborns, elderly patients, or those very sensitive to thyroid medicines.

• Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)

• Congenital hypothyroidism in babies

Levothyroxine is a man-made copy of the natural thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4). When your thyroid gland does not make enough hormone, this tablet tops up the body's supply so that energy, growth, and metabolism return to normal.

Take as prescribed by your doctor, ideally first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with a glass of water. Wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before eating, drinking tea or coffee, or taking other medicines.

Tell the doctor about heart disease, diabetes, or adrenal problems before starting. Do not stop suddenly. Regular blood tests are needed to check TSH and adjust the dose. Calcium, iron, and antacid tablets should be taken several hours apart.

Keep below 25 degrees C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep in the original strip until use. Keep out of reach of children.
