Defcort 12

Defcort 12 tablets from Macleods contain Deflazacort, a glucocorticoid (corticosteroid) medicine. It is used to lower inflammation and dampen overactive immune responses in many conditions.

• Rheumatoid arthritis and other joint inflammation
• Severe allergies and asthma flares
• Skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis
• Nephrotic syndrome and other kidney conditions
• Duchenne muscular dystrophy
• Some blood and autoimmune disorders

Deflazacort is converted in the body to an active form that calms inflammation and slows down immune cells that attack the body's own tissues. This reduces swelling, pain and other symptoms of inflammation.

Take as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, usually with food or milk to protect the stomach. Do not stop the medicine suddenly; the doctor will lower the dose slowly when it is time to stop.

Tell your doctor about diabetes, high blood pressure, glaucoma, peptic ulcer, tuberculosis or any active infection. Avoid contact with people who have chickenpox or measles if you have not had them. Inform if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Carry a steroid card if used long term.

Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep the strip in its original pack and out of reach of children.
